Making Patients Happy
Calming Dental Sedatives for Patients
Dental sedation helps patients stay calm and collected while undergoing their dental procedures. The primary types include oral sedation, nitrous oxide, and IV sedation. They are used for patients who have stress, anxiety, and fear at the dentist's office before or during their appointments or those who want to avoid pain and discomfort. Every form of sedation we provide is safe and approved for use in the field of dentistry.
How It Works
What Dental Sedative Is Right for Me?
We'll work with you to determine which sedative is the right choice. Lighter sedatives, such as oral sedatives, make patients feel drowsy. But, they are aware and able to respond to questions and directions. Deeper sedatives may cause the patient to fall asleep and completely forget the procedure. Your sedative will be chosen based on the amount of anxiety you have or the complexity and intensity of your procedure.
- Nitrous (Laughing Gas): Involves inhalation of a mixture of nitrous and oxygen through a mask placed over the nose. Soothing and calming with the patient being back to normal before leaving the office.
- Oral Sedation: Involves taking medication before dental procedure, which helps our patients feel relaxed and drowsy. Oral sedation is excellent for patients who are afraid of injections.
- IV (Intravenous Sedation): Involves administering sedation medications intravenously, which allows patients to enter a state of deep relaxation. Afterwards, patients have no memory of the procedure.
